For buyers
Safety & scams.
Domus Inventum vets agencies before they can list, but a little caution from you goes a long way.
What we do
- Every agency is verified before they can publish — company details, contact information and team members.
- Membership is required to publish, which gives us a meaningful billing relationship and a paper trail.
- Enquiries are routed through us and we filter spam.
- Agencies that go inactive (lapsed membership) lose their listings immediately.
Red flags
- An asking price far below the local market for a similar property.
- Pressure to pay a deposit before viewing the property in person.
- Requests to pay by bank transfer to a personal account, crypto, or money-transfer services.
- The agent only communicates via free email (gmail, hotmail) and avoids phone calls.
- Photos that look stock or mismatched (one shows snow, another shows palm trees).
Good habits
- Always view the property — in person or via live video tour — before paying anything.
- Verify the agency on its own website and look up reviews.
- Use escrow or a lawyer for any deposit. Reputable agencies expect this.
- If something feels off, walk away. There are other listings.
Report
If you spot a suspicious listing or agent, use the report button on the listing or email support. We investigate every report.
